A few thoughts on my end (since you critiqued mine, hehe. Sorry for taking so long.):
First, you have a good start on assets; however, you're using many styles together that don't seem to work too well. A few examples: The site itself looks over-all square. Reason for this is because, your content area doesn't end except for the bottom of the page. Because of that, our eyes invision the box as a square. This is fine; however, on the left navigation or left buttons you have there, you're using rounded edges. This looks off from the rest of the layout.
There are a few things with the nav that seem awry to me as well. First: Because of the way you designed it, it looks as if it is glass or like it is beveled upwards. This looks odd to my eyes because the rest of your content area is fairly flat. There are no other buttons or anything that have the same style as that, so it's sticking out like a sore thumb. This isn't always bad, but there is a time and place to get people's attention using the "sore thumb" method, if you will. Second: the dividers separating the different navigation items is fine and works; however, the spacing (padding) is off. My eye stops flowing because at "Affiliate's" and "Contact" the spacing isn't the same between the text and separators as it is on the first three navigation items. So be careful there as well. (Oh, and the random button on the end with nothing in it...?)
The text... There is different font the further you go down the page. The styled font on the header, then another font for the navigation, than finally a different font for the content. This can be fine, since it's normal to not go over three used fonts; however, you're using sans-serif and serifs together. It makes the design look wobbly. Usually serifed fonts are used more for professional-looking themes but here it looks as if you're trying for a more design/art feel. In that case I would try a different font than what you're using for the content. Experiment with different things!
Finally: I know you were saying something about the color in your description of the piece. If you haven't already tried kuler, give it a shot! [link] Knowing how and making your own color schemes is great and Kuler definitely helps! But for some kick ass color schemes when you don't have the time to make your own... Kuler is also good for that! It's where I grabbed the color scheme for the movie site you critiqued.
Cheers and keep up the work!

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
